CCSL COAST & BAY
SF RULES FOR TRAVEL PLAY
San Francisco teams wishing to be promoted to CCSL Coast must earn it, through a matrix of league and tournament play. It’s different in SF than in nearby regions. The reason SF restricts the number of travel teams is because the travel leagues schedule fields inefficiently, leaving gaps in the day; fields go unused.
These rules have been agreed to by the coalition of San Francisco youth soccer leagues in partnership with the SF Rec & Park Department.
U8 and U9 Travel Teams : U8 and U9 competitive teams from San Francisco will play in CCSL Prep, a division that plays games only in San Francisco or very nearby locations (South San Francisco, Daly City, San Bruno, Pacifica, or Southern Marin.) U8 and U9 teams will be registered as Competitive teams eligible to attend tournaments. U8 and U9 CCSL Prep will have published standings and one referee. Competitive U8 and U9 teams will only be allocated one practice field per week during fall and spring by the city.
U10 and Up Travel Teams : For age groups U10 and up, there will be a CCSL Prep division through age U14 as well as full CCSL Travel Play through U19.
CCSL Coast / Bay is a networked league that spans Northern California, with over 500 teams, U9 through U19, in brackets from Copper to Premier. The vast majority of teams from San Francisco play in the Coast division, which runs San Francisco to Monterey.
PLAYERS : Players who are looking to compete at a competitive level should try out with an independent team or a club. SFYS does not assign players to teams.

TEAM APPLICATION TO PLAY
CCSL COAST or BAY
San Francisco teams are only eligible to play in CCSL Coast/Bay beginning their U10 year. New teams must start in CCSL Prep.
Teams playing in CCSL Prep can use this application form to apply to a panel of representatives from SF youth leagues (SFYS and MYSL).
Note: Teams will not be able to switch leagues mid-year. San Francisco wants to make sure the teams it sends to CCSL are very competitive strong Bronze teams or higher. The most eligible teams will be selected, regardless of club affiliation or registration league. Teams do not have to win CCSL Prep outright, and winning CCSL Prep by itself is not enough to guarantee acceptance of your application. Teams do have to show very strong results from at least three official tournaments. If you apply, you must show us your tourney rosters; use of guest players at tourneys will impact our assessment of your team's strength.
